What You’ll Do
This entry-level, full-time Research Assistant role supports health services and public health research at a confidential client in Hayes Valley, CA. The position is well suited for recent university graduates seeking structured, hands-on research experience (anticipated term: ~two years) with close mentorship.
Primary responsibilities:
- Support research projects by extracting, organizing, and interpreting data from multiple sources for problems of limited scope.
- Collaborate with data analysts and research team members on study design, results presentation, and interpretation.
- Conduct literature searches (e.g., advanced PubMed) and synthesize findings concisely.
- Assist with data exploration and basic analyses; learn to apply professional research concepts.
- Draft, proofread, and prepare manuscripts for submission to peer‑reviewed journals.
- Assist with preparation and management of human subjects (IRB) submissions and approvals.
- Manage multiple small research projects and meet precise deadlines.
Who We’re Looking For
You are intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to build a career in health services research, health economics, public health, or public policy. You communicate clearly in writing and can work independently under supervision while participating as part of a fast-paced team.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., liberal arts, economics, public policy, pre‑medical) or equivalent experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of information with attention to detail.
- Basic program and project management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new data hosting platforms.
- High integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior experience conducting original research (honors thesis, capstone, or lead RA role).
- Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, STATA, SAS) or demonstrated quantitative aptitude.
