Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Research Assistant (Basic Science) to support oncology research at their Detroit, MI campus. This is a full-time, laboratory-based role ideal for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and hands-on experience or coursework in cell, molecular, biological, or biochemical techniques.

What You’ll Do

• Perform laboratory-based scientific techniques and assist in designing and executing experiments to support oncology research projects.
• Collect, log, and maintain accurate laboratory and/or survey data; prepare graphs, tables, and basic analyses to highlight research findings.
• Assist Principal Investigator and senior researchers by summarizing results, writing methods sections, and preparing materials for presentations and manuscripts.
• Maintain laboratory areas and equipment, perform routine equipment maintenance, order and track supplies, and keep accurate records.
• Ensure compliance with research protocols, legal and regulatory requirements, and scientific integrity standards.
• Communicate progress and results to the Principal Investigator, postdoctoral staff, and other team members.
• Perform other research-related tasks as assigned to support project objectives.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
• Experience: Entry-level — less than one year of job-related experience acceptable. Prior lab coursework or research experience preferred.
• Knowledge & Skills:
  • Familiarity with cell, molecular, biological, and biochemical techniques.
  • Ability to follow research protocols accurately and work independently with supervision.
  • Skill in organizing, summarizing, and interpreting research data; comfortable with basic data presentation (graphs, tables).
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication; ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Previous laboratory research experience (academic or industry settings).
• Experience supporting preparation of manuscripts, posters, or conference presentations.
