Research and Planning Data Analyst
The Research and Planning Data Analyst is responsible for managing and analyzing data extracted from the SPIRIT II case management system using SQL and Toad Datapoint, and visualizing it with Microsoft Power BI. The role involves ensuring data quality and compliance with parole policies, generating performance reports, supporting training initiatives, and assisting with internal and external data requests. This position also contributes to system enhancements and serves as a backup administrator for SPIRIT II, supporting data-driven decision-making across the agency.

What You’ll Do
The Research and Planning Data Analyst will lead extraction, validation, analysis, and reporting of case-management data to support operational performance, research, and statutory reporting for the Confidential Client. You will work closely with the Director of Research and other unit staff to build and maintain reliable datasets, dashboards, and recurring reports.
- Help extract and validate raw data from the agency case-management system by building and modifying SQL queries (TOAD Data Point).
- Use Microsoft Power BI to analyze, visualize, refresh, and publish dashboards that reflect SPIRIT II data and operational metrics.
- Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for internal units to measure performance and identify trends.
- Audit and track data captured by active reports and extracts; identify and communicate data quality issues to management and relevant staff.
- Understand business processes and policies across units to ensure consistent data entry and tracking.
- Troubleshoot data-entry and system issues and contribute requirements for system enhancements to improve data tracking.
- Assist with data preparation for annual statistical reports and submissions (internal and external), public records requests, and ad-hoc research requests.
- Serve as a backup system administrator for the case-management application and help maintain certain public-facing website content (e.g., monthly calendars and related uploads).
- Support coordination of training sessions (e.g., certification and booster trainings) as requested by the Director.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have at least two years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) professional or technical experience that includes business data recovery, analysis, query design, reporting, and statistical analysis; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Substitution:
- A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Proficiency building and modifying SQL queries — experience with TOAD Data Point required.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI (dashboard creation, scheduled refreshes, and visualizations).
- Advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
- Experience auditing data, troubleshooting data quality issues, and documenting business rules.
- Familiarity learning and applying agency policies and business procedures to ensure accurate data capture.
- Strong communication skills for presenting findings and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Prior experience supporting annual statistical reporting and responding to external data requests is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $82,789.72 per year.

Work Location & Schedule
- Primary location: Natick, MA (onsite with potential hybrid arrangements as permitted).
- Schedule: Full-time (day shift).
