Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Remote Software Developer to join its Information Technology team. This full-time role is remote-first with a primary location of San Jose, CA. The position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career developers who want hands-on experience building software, gaining mentorship, and launching a tech career. Compensation: $79,000 - $82,000 per year.
What you’ll do
- Contribute to application development using Java and/or Python in a full‑stack environment
- Implement and test backend services, APIs, and database queries (SQL)
- Work on front-end features when needed (JS frameworks / basic UI integration)
- Assist with basic DevOps tasks (containerization, CI/CD basics) and collaborate with operations engineers
- Participate in code reviews, stand-ups, and paired programming sessions
- Help collect and analyze data for product or analytics features; support data pipelines at an entry level
- Learn established engineering practices (unit testing, version control, issue tracking) and apply them to projects
Who you are
- Recent graduate (B.S./M.S.) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field — or a candidate with equivalent project experience
- Hands-on coursework, personal projects, internships, or bootcamp experience using Java, Python, SQL, or web technologies
- Strong willingness to learn, take feedback, and follow a structured onboarding and mentorship plan
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate on small, cross-functional teams
- Problem-solving mindset and interest in one or more of: full-stack development, DevOps, data analytics, machine learning basics
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field OR equivalent demonstrable experience/projects
- Practical experience with at least one programming language (Java or Python preferred)
- Basic knowledge of SQL and data manipulation
- Familiarity with Git or other version control tools
- Availability to work full time and participate in virtual team meetings with a San Jose / Pacific Time core
Nice-to-have
- Coursework or projects in machine learning, data science, or analytics
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containers (Docker), or CI/CD tools
- Front-end experience (React, Vue, or similar)
