Role Overview
Confidential Client, a Health & Human Services organization, is seeking a Reimbursement Analyst I to join a team that supports payment rate design, development, and federal compliance reporting. This is an entry-level analyst role focused on data collection, validation, analysis, documentation, and routine reporting for payment rate determinations. The position is hybrid (currently two in-office days per week) based in Austin, TX. Applicants from outside Texas must be willing to relocate within 30 days of hire.
What You’ll Do
This role supports the Acute Care Services Payment Comparison team. Typical responsibilities include:
- Assist in preparation, review, and maintenance of reports, analyses, and deliverables used in payment rate determinations and reporting.
- Support analysis of payment rates, claims data, and financial information to meet state and federal requirements.
- Maintain applications, spreadsheets, and databases used for payment rate calculations and documentation.
- Draft routine correspondence, reports, and supporting documentation for review by senior staff.
- Communicate with Provider Finance staff, providers, internal stakeholders, contractors, and other partners to respond to routine inquiries and support reporting activities.
- Track assignments, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure timely completion of submissions and requests.
- Contribute to process documentation, quality assurance, and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in meetings and provide analytical support for legislative requests, fiscal analyses, and special projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities (by focus)
- Drafting, review, and reporting — support and prepare reports and analyses (approx. 35%).
- Coordination and communication — respond to stakeholders and support workgroups (approx. 20%).
- Workflow management — manage workloads and track deadlines (approx. 20%).
- Processes and procedures — develop and maintain process documentation and recommend improvements (approx. 20%).
- Other duties — perform additional tasks as needed to support office operations (approx. 5%).
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social science; business, including accounting and statistics; mathematics; physics; economics; health-related field; political science; or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and analyze data, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information to technical and non-technical audiences.
Technical skills and knowledge (preferred and/or expected on the job):
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with database and spreadsheet applications, data quality and integrity processes, and data visualization concepts.
- Experience with business objects, claims processing engines, TMHP software, and Salesforce is a plus.
- Understanding of medical claims data, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement concepts, and funding methods is preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience with healthcare program data analysis, Medicaid reimbursement, financial reporting, or related analytical work.
- Experience supporting federal or state payment rate reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Practical experience using Salesforce or other case/claims management systems.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (as posted): $4,523.16 — $7,253.83 per month (monthly pay frequency). This equates roughly to $54,278 — $87,046 per year.

- Telework: position is eligible for telework per agency policy; current assignment expects two days per week on-site at the North Austin Complex.
Work Location & Travel
- Job location: Austin, TX (North Austin Complex). Hybrid schedule with two in-office days per week.
- Travel: up to approximately 5%.
