Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking a part-time Rehab Therapist (Child Psychiatry) to join an interdisciplinary team providing acute pediatric behavioral health services in Cleveland, OH. This role delivers therapeutic recreation, expressive therapies, and functional assessments to support children and adolescents with mental health and behavioral needs.


What You’ll Do

Therapeutic and clinical responsibilities include:

  • Perform assessments of functional and rehabilitative needs, including activities of daily living, community living skills, social/leisure/vocational skills, and self-care.
  • Plan and lead therapeutic recreation and expressive therapy in individual and group formats.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on skills and strategies used in discharge planning.
  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary care team and participate in treatment planning.
  • Complete required documentation and support department operations (billing, scheduling, etc.).
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with PHI/ HIPAA policies and organization standards.

Schedule & hours

  • Part-time: typically 24 hours/week.
  • Schedule example: Week 1 — Monday / Wednesday / Friday; Week 2 — Wednesday / Saturday / Sunday.
  • Primarily day shift with occasional afternoon/evening coverage, rotating weekends and holidays.
  • Opportunity to pick up additional shifts as available.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and graduate of an accredited program in Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, or entry-level Occupational Therapy. (Required)
  • Certification or licensure in the respective field (Required).
  • Non-violent crisis prevention training (must be completed within 3 months of employment; required proficiency).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic processes, behavior management, growth and development, and age-appropriate therapeutic boundaries.
  • Physical, cognitive, and perceptual ability to provide therapeutic interventions (lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs, frequent standing/walking, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal, time-management, and collaborative skills.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Prior mental health experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
  • Previous experience working with pediatric populations (strongly preferred).

Physical demands

Typical physical requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Standing, walking — frequently
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling — frequently (up to 50 lbs)
  • Climbing — occasionally
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching — frequently
  • Crawling — occasionally
  • Reaching, handling, grasping, repetitive motion, coordinated eye/hand/foot activity — frequent to constant
  • Regular talking, hearing, and feeling

Compensation & benefits

  • Estimated pay (from source listing): $21,088 per year (part-time, estimated).
