Position overview
Confidential Client is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide clinical nursing care at a university student health center. This full-time RN role supports primary and preventative care for students and campus community members, applying evidence-based nursing practice, patient education, and established clinical protocols to promote health and safety.
What You’ll Do
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care consistent with established nursing protocols.
- Triage and manage acute and routine student health concerns in an ambulatory/student health setting.
- Provide patient education on prevention, self-care, and health maintenance.
- Administer medications, perform basic procedures, and operate clinical equipment safely.
- Maintain accurate, confidential medical and administrative records.
- Communicate with campus personnel, families, and external medical providers as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement, infection control, and clinical documentation initiatives.
- Escalate or refer complex cases to supervising clinical leadership or external providers.
Knowledge, skills & abilities
- Knowledge of nursing principles, current clinical developments, and ambulatory care practices.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make clinical decisions within scope of practice.
- Proficiency with clinical equipment (e.g., BP units, otoscope, ophthalmoscope, thermometers, autoclave, centrifuge) and basic computer systems/EHRs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students, staff, families, and providers.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and accurate recordkeeping.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes emotionally charged environment.
Required qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in Tennessee or multistate/compact RN licensure at time of hire.
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical nursing experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior experience in ambulatory care, student health, or university health services.
Physical demands & work environment
- Duties may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, and occasional heavy lifting (may exceed 100 lbs in some settings).
- Must be able to perceive and respond to alarms/sounds and perform visual assessments in varied lighting.
- Work may involve periods of high stress and frequent interaction with multiple patients and healthcare teams.

- Salary: $53,112.67 per year (MR 7 entry level)
