Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) — Endoscopy to join their team in Fort Sam Houston, TX. This is an ongoing, staff, full-time role offering $30.00 - $42.00 per hour. This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

What You’ll Do

Under minimal supervision, provide professional nursing care for patients across the lifespan (newborn to geriatric) within your scope and competencies. Typical responsibilities include:

• Triage, assess and prepare patients for endoscopic procedures
• Monitor patient vital signs and sedation levels during procedures
• Assist physicians and other clinical staff during endoscopy cases
• Provide post-procedure recovery, discharge teaching and documentation
• Maintain sterile technique and safe handling of endoscopy instruments
• Administer medications and perform treatments as ordered and within RN scope
• Participate in unit orientation, competency validation and quality improvement activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
• Adhere to facility policies, standards of care and infection control procedures

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

• Current or eligible for a Texas RN license
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) on hire (ARC or AHA)
• Ability to perform duties with reasonable accommodations where required

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Completion of peri-anesthesia or critical care internship/training
• Certifications such as CNOR (Surgery), CPAN (Post Anesthesia) or SGNA (GI Lab) are desirable
• AHA ACLS and/or PALS to be completed within designated timeframe if applicable to assigned unit

Certifications / timeframes (per facility policy):

• BLS — active on hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire
• ACLS — complete within 60 days of hire or transfer for Surgical Services areas
• PALS — complete within 60 days of hire or transfer for Post Anesthesia Care units
