Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Outpatient Primary Care (PACT) at a San Diego, CA location. This is a contract, full-time clinical role providing direct patient care in an outpatient primary care setting. The position is appropriate for RNs at multiple grade/experience levels (Nurse I–III) depending on education and clinical experience.

  • Compensation: $103,980 - $188,494 per year
  • Employment type: Contract, Full time
  • Location: San Diego, CA (on-site)

What You’ll Do

You will deliver direct, patient-centered nursing care in an outpatient primary care clinic (PACT). Typical duties include:

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and triage for veterans/patients in primary care
  • Develop, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
  • Provide health promotion, disease prevention education, and chronic disease management support
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and specialty services
  • Administer medications, perform clinical procedures and document interventions per policy
  • Support evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
  • Use electronic health records and clinical systems for documentation and communication

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet applicable licensure and education requirements for the grade/level. Minimum requirements include:

  • Current, full, active and unrestricted RN license in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia
  • Graduate of an approved professional nursing program accredited by an accepted accrediting body (ACEN or CCNE) OR equivalent foreign-educated credentials with validated equivalency where applicable
  • English language proficiency sufficient for safe, accurate written and spoken clinical care (per 38 U.S.C. 7403(f))
  • Ability to meet grade/level scope and dimension criteria (Practice, Veteran/Patient Driven Care, Leadership, Professional Development, Evidence-Based Practice/Research) as applicable

Grade-specific examples (used for placement/leveling):

  • Nurse I, Level I: ADN/Diploma in Nursing (entry level)
  • Nurse I, Level II: ADN + 1 year specialized nursing experience, or BSN (no experience)
  • Nurse I, Level III: ADN + 2 years (with progression), or BSN + 1 year, or MSN (no additional experience)
  • Nurse II / Nurse III: BSN/MSN with progressive specialized experience and leadership per qualification standard

Physical & Work Requirements

This role includes typical outpatient nursing physical demands:

  • Heavy lifting (45 lbs and over) and physical tasks (pushing/pulling, walking, standing, repeated bending for 8–12 hours)
  • Reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands and legs required
  • Rapid mental and muscular coordination; near and far vision requirements; depth perception; ability to distinguish basic colors
  • Hearing (hearing aid permitted) and emotional/mental stability for patient care
  • Frequent keyboarding and screen reading (intermittent, 8–12 hours over scheduled shift)
