What You’ll Do
As a Registered Nurse — Outpatient Mental Health working for a confidential client, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in an outpatient mental health clinic. You will assess and triage patients, support treatment planning, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, document care, and help improve clinic processes to enhance patient outcomes.
- Provide direct patient care and nursing assessments in an outpatient mental health setting
- Triage and manage urgent behavioral health needs, escalating when necessary
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other clinical staff
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and self-care strategies
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with regulatory and charting standards
- Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and case reviews
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet state licensing and core nursing education/experience requirements.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN registration/license in the hiring jurisdiction (Iowa) or other licensure acceptable under applicable state rules
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN) with accreditation accepted by ACEN or CCNE or equivalent credentialing pathways
- English language proficiency sufficient for safe, effective direct patient care
- Ability to complete any required pre-employment physical or examination
- For entry without full RN licensure, candidates who meet education requirements may be considered under a temporary Graduate Nurse Technician/trainee arrangement where allowed; applicants must actively pursue licensure
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) or higher, or equivalent specialty education
- Experience in outpatient behavioral health, community mental health, or related nursing care
- Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and manage complex patient situations
- Evidence of professional development, leadership, or participation in evidence-based practice projects
Compensation & Employment Type
- Employment type: Contract, Full Time
- Salary range (provided by the client): $69,723 — $126,546 per year
- This range is a budgeted range from the client and may vary by level, grade, experience, and negotiated offer.
- Typical schedule: Outpatient clinic hours; shift details vary by site and will be shared during the interview process
Licensing, Compliance & Other Requirements
- Must maintain an active RN license in the applicable state(s) and comply with all state nursing board rules
