Position summary

Confidential Client is hiring a part-time, night-shift Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Medical–Surgical team at a not‑for‑profit hospital in Elkhart, IN. This is a part-time role (0.6 FTE / 24 hours per week) on nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Entry-level nurses are welcome.

What You’ll Do

As a Medical–Surgical RN / LPN you will provide professional nursing care to adult medical–surgical patients. You will assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate outcomes while collaborating with clinical and ancillary staff to deliver safe, patient-centered care.

• Perform priority (high‑risk, high‑frequency) clinical procedures safely and effectively
• Prioritize patient care activities based on acuity, resources, and patient/family needs
• Detect and respond to changes in a patient’s physical or emotional condition
• Advocate for patients and families to achieve appropriate care outcomes
• Develop, revise, and document measurable plans of care
• Maintain continuity of care across transitions and interdisciplinary teams
• Delegate tasks appropriately and remain accountable for outcomes
• Use effective interpersonal communication with patients, families, physicians and team members
• Participate in department meetings, mandatory education, and maintain competencies
• Maintain required licensure and certifications (e.g., BLS)

Qualifications

Required

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required for RNs; LPN credential as applicable
• Current license to practice in Indiana (RN or LPN as applicable)
• Ability to work night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) and a part‑time schedule (24 hrs/week)
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• For RNs hired after Jan 1, 2014: BSN or certification in specialty within five (5) years as required by policy
• Prior med‑surg experience or recent clinical rotations in acute care
