Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Registered Nurse — Inpatient Staff (RN) in Richmond, VA. This is a contract, full-time nursing role supporting inpatient care. The position offers a salary range of $82,228 - $163,760 per year and is ideal for clinically strong RNs who deliver safe, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct inpatient nursing care consistent with scope and grade level.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, develop and execute nursing plans of care.
- Administer medications, monitor patients, and document findings in the medical record.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support Veteran/patient-driven care.
- Participate in discharge planning, patient education, and care transitions.
- Contribute to quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and unit-level initiatives.
- Practice safe patient handling and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements (candidates must meet at least one set where applicable):
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (ACEN or CCNE accreditation recommended).
- Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception: candidates meeting education but not yet licensed may be appointed temporarily while pursuing licensure (per policy).
- Education/experience grade guidelines:
- Nurse I, Level I — ADN or Nursing Diploma (entry-level responsibilities).
- Nurse I, Level II — ADN/Diploma + 1 year specialized experience OR BSN with no experience required.
- Nurse I, Level III — ADN/Diploma + 2 years professional nursing (or BSN + 1 year; other equivalent combinations possible).
- Nurse II/III — advanced degrees (MSN/Doctoral) and progressive specialized experience as described in qualification standards.
- English language proficiency sufficient for safe patient care and documentation.
Physical & Other Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; repeated bending; use of both hands/legs.
- Able to lift and carry heavy loads (45+ lbs) and perform pushing/pulling tasks.
- Visual acuity (correctable to 20/40 in one eye) and ability to distinguish basic colors.
- May be exposed to patients with behavioral health challenges (delirium, dementia, psychiatric conditions).
- Must meet annual employee health requirements (e.g., TB screening/testing).
- Emotional stability, flexibility, and ability to perform under stress are essential.
