Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Registered Nurse - Inpatient for a full-time contract position in Chillicothe, OH. This role provides direct inpatient nursing care across a range of acuity levels. The position requires active, unrestricted RN licensure in the U.S. (or eligibility under the Graduate Nurse Technician exception), adherence to evidence-based practice, and the ability to meet physical demands of inpatient care.

  • Job level: Multiple grade/level opportunities (Nurse I Levels I–III, Nurse II, Nurse III) depending on education and experience

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, patient-centered inpatient nursing care in accordance with established clinical policies and standards
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support Veteran/patient-driven care
  • Apply evidence-based practice and contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives
  • Demonstrate leadership and clinical judgment appropriate to assigned grade/level
  • Use appropriate safe patient handling techniques and mechanical lifts when required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth (including Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program (ACEN or CCNE) OR equivalent credentialing/degree validation for foreign-educated nurses
  • English language proficiency sufficient for safe direct patient care (written and spoken)
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of inpatient clinical work (see Physical Requirements below)
  • NOTE: Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception may apply for candidates who meet education requirements but are actively pursuing licensure (temporary appointment rules apply)

Experience & Education for Grade Placement

  • Nurse I, Level I: Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing
  • Nurse I, Level II: ADN/Diploma + 1 year specialized experience OR BSN (no experience)
  • Nurse I, Level III: ADN/Diploma + 2 years (one year equivalent to Level II) OR BSN + 1 year (Level II equivalent) OR MSN (no experience)
  • Nurse II: BSN + 2 years (Level III equivalent) OR MSN + 1 year specialized experience OR Doctoral options as listed in the qualification standards
  • Nurse III: Advanced degrees plus required specialized experience and leadership responsibilities as outlined in the qualification standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience working in Rehabilitation or related inpatient specialty
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and practice improvement

Physical Requirements

  • Routine inpatient clinical activity including bending, grasping, kneeling, moderate lifting/carrying up to 35 lbs following Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) guidelines
  • Ability to pivot waist/neck, push/pull items up to 35 lbs, reach within five feet or above shoulder height
  • Frequent sitting, squatting, standing, walking, twisting; wrist flexion/extension
  • Adequate vision and hearing to perform assigned duties (hearing aids permitted)
  • Employees must use proper body mechanics and allowed mechanical lifts when required
