The Registered Nurse (RN) - New Grad role at Confidential Client's ICU is a full-time night shift position designed for new nursing graduates with ICU clinical experience or related patient care background. What You’ll Do
This role is for a New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) joining a mixed critical care unit (ICU + IMCU). You will participate in a structured residency/onboarding program and work with preceptors to develop clinical judgment and safe practice.
- Provide direct patient care during the first year of practice under precepted supervision
- Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments and contribute to individualized care plans
- Safely administer medications and treatments, document care in the electronic health record
- Monitor and escalate changes in patient condition promptly to the care team
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds and communicate effectively with patients, families, and clinicians
- Progress toward independent practice as competencies are validated through the residency program
- Follow safety, infection control, and applicable regulatory standards (DNV/CMS)
- Perform other duties as assigned and participate in ongoing education and competency validation
Qualifications
- Education:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Students nearing completion of an RN program with ICU-specific clinical rotations, capstones, or preceptorships are encouraged to apply
- Experience:
- Entry-level — 0 to 1 year of RN experience expected
- New grads with heavy ICU clinical rotations, capstone/preceptorship experience, or prior work as a Patient Care Technician in an ICU are strongly considered
- 18 months of critical care experience preferred for non-new-grad hires
- Skills:
- Foundational nursing knowledge and developing clinical judgment
- Time management, prioritization, and clear communication skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record documentation or the ability to learn quickly
- Openness to feedback, coaching, and precepted learning
Certifications & Licensure
- Current State RN license required upon hire (must be valid for Virginia)
- Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred prior to hire or within 90 days of hire
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required within 6 months of hire (for stroke center compliance)

Unit & Shift Details
- Unit type: Mixed Critical Care — 15-bed ICU and 5-bed Intermediate/Step-down (IMCU)
- Typical staffing: 1:1 to 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio depending on acuity
- Shift: Full-time, 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with rotating weekends
- Clinical exposure: Neurology, cardiology, oncology, nephrology, surgical critical care, ventilator/CRRT management, and other advanced ICU therapies
- Equipment and support: Modern monitoring systems and on-site critical care NP/PA coverage; daily interdisciplinary rounds
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay: $36.00 per hour (posted range $36.00 - $36.00 hourly; estimated annual = $77,850)
- Sign-on bonus: Up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates (as advertised)
- Additional pay: Shift differentials, overtime, premiums, or incentive opportunities may apply per role and unit needs
