What You’ll Do

This role is for a Registered Nurse (Home Health) providing skilled nursing care in patients' homes across the Iowa City catchment area. You will deliver safe, evidence-based care, coordinate with the care team, and support patients and caregivers to meet clinical goals.

• Provide comprehensive home health nursing assessments, care planning, and skilled interventions.
• Deliver medication management, wound care, IV therapy, patient education, and clinical documentation.
• Coordinate referrals and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, social work, and primary care.
• Perform patient outreach and represent the program at community or outreach events within the Iowa City Health Care System catchment area.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and complete required reporting promptly.
• Travel within the assigned catchment area to reach patient homes (may include continuous travel up to 2 hours).
• Maintain current certifications and follow infection control and safety policies.
• Transport and provide care for Veterans/patients as needed in accordance with program rules and safety policies.

Who We’re Looking For

We seek licensed RNs with strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and experience or interest in home health nursing. Ideal candidates are organized, comfortable working independently in the field, and able to build trusting relationships with patients and families.

• Effective verbal and written English proficiency (per federal requirements)
• Comfortable with community-based care and travel
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle insurance, and current first aid/CPR certification

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet licensure and education requirements described below. Exceptions and appointment pathways are noted.

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (ACEN or CCNE accreditation where applicable), or equivalent validated foreign education with required registration.
• Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception: Candidates who meet education requirements but lack licensure may be appointed on a temporary basis while pursuing licensure (initial 120-day appointment; may be extended on a case-by-case basis).
• In accordance with federal law (38 U.S.C. 7403(f)), proficiency in basic written and spoken English is required.

Grade/level expectations (examples):

• Nurse I (Levels I–III) — ADN/diploma or BSN and progressive nursing experience as detailed in the role’s scope.
• Nurse II / Nurse III — BSN/MSN and required years of specialized experience or advanced degrees per grade criteria.

Physical & Travel Requirements

• Pre-employment physical exam or evaluation will be required.
• Ability to travel within the Iowa City catchment area; some assignments may require up to 2 continuous hours in a vehicle.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and first aid certification; ability to transport patients when needed.

Employment Type & Compensation

• Employment type: Contract, Full time.
• Salary range (reported): $73,696 — $122,961 per year (Confidential Client). Actual pay will depend on grade/level, experience, and qualifications and complies with applicable state law.
