Position Overview

Registered Nurse (Acute Care) — Durham, NC. Confidential Client is hiring a licensed Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in an acute care setting. This contract, full-time role requires clinical skill, sound judgment, strong communication, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced or stressful situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based acute nursing care to assigned patients (assessments, monitoring, medication administration).
• Develop, implement and update individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions and patient responses in the medical record.
• Respond to patient changes and emergencies; escalate and coordinate care as needed.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and patient education for transition of care.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety and professional development.

Required Qualifications

• Current, full, active and unrestricted RN registration/license in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or D.C.
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN, Diploma, BSN) OR evidence of an approved foreign-education equivalency where applicable.
• For candidates enrolled in master's-level bridge programs: ability to be appointed temporarily while completing licensure requirements may be considered.
• Physical ability to perform acute care duties, including prolonged standing/walking, lifting/carrying up to 45 lbs, reaching above shoulder, manual dexterity, and visual/hearing requirements (correctable vision to 20/40 in one eye; ability to distinguish basic colors/shades).
• Emotional and mental stability to work effectively in stressful and rapidly changing patient-care situations.
• Must complete annual employee health requirements (e.g., TB screening/testing) as a condition of employment.

Preferred

• BSN preferred.
• ANCC Medical-Surgical (or equivalent) certification preferred.

Notes on levels/experience

• Hiring grade/level will be determined based on education, scope, and relevant clinical experience. Candidates with ADN/Diploma and varying years of nursing experience may be placed into levels consistent with their education and experience.

• Salary range: $82,819 — $155,103 per year.
