Position summary

Confidential Client is seeking a Registered Dietitian (Clinical Dietitian) for a full-time, day-shift role in Bakersfield, CA. The Registered Dietitian will provide medical nutrition therapy, conduct nutrition assessments, develop and document individualized nutrition care plans, and serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical nutrition services across inpatient and/or outpatient settings, including:

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments to identify patients at nutritional risk
• Develop, implement and document individualized nutrition care plans and medical nutrition therapy
• Monitor patient intake and response; adjust plans and interventions as appropriate
• Provide patient, family and caregiver nutrition education and counseling
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and other care team members; participate in interdisciplinary care planning
• Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to dietetic interns and support staff within scope of practice
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with policy and regulatory standards
• Participate in quality improvement and nutrition-related performance measures

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food & Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (or equivalent)
• Dietetic internship or equivalent supervised practice
• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential — or ability to obtain RD within 6 months of completion of residency/program
• Experience providing clinical dietitian services in a healthcare setting
• Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and ability to prioritize patient care
• Effective communication and teaching skills for patients, families, students and staff

Preferred / nice-to-have

• Prior hospital or acute-care clinical experience
• Experience precepting dietetic interns or orienting new staff
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) documentation of nutrition care
• Bilingual skills (if applicable to local patient population)

Compensation

• Estimated pay (from source posting): $93,599 per year (estimated). Exact pay and benefits will be provided by the confidential client during the hiring process, consistent with applicable state pay transparency rules.
