Recreational Therapist (CTRS) Full Time
The Recreational Therapist at Confidential Client is responsible for assessing patient needs and designing individualized therapeutic programs within an interdisciplinary mental health treatment team. What You’ll Do
As a Recreational Therapist (CTRS) with our Confidential Client you will join an interdisciplinary treatment team to plan, organize, and deliver therapeutic activity programs that support patient recovery and functional outcomes. You will assess patients' capabilities, needs, interests, and goals and design individualized treatment plans consistent with the interdisciplinary team’s objectives.
- Assess patient care needs and develop/implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team
- Plan and lead milieu programming, including teaching, skill-building, and therapy groups
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with assigned patients
- Provide clinical input to interdisciplinary treatment planning and participate in rounds and treatment meetings
- Monitor and report safety risks to unit leadership and participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed
- Document patient care and progress according to policy and regulatory requirements
- Support quality improvement, staff training, supervision, and documentation review within the activity therapy department
- May perform functional assessments per clinician order and collaborate with clinical leadership on internships and departmental initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy required; Master’s degree preferred
- Certification as a CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) required
- Minimum of relevant clinical experience (the posting notes at least three months) working with psychiatric/medical populations to develop entry-level skills in planning and running therapeutic activities
- Knowledge of expressive arts therapies, recreation therapies, psycho-educational interventions, and group counseling techniques
- Strong documentation, communication, and teamwork skills

Compensation & Schedule
- Pay range (provided by the employer): $22.73 - $34.09 per hour (equivalent base pay). Final base pay will be determined based on location, experience, education, certifications, and FTE status. This range does not include potential shift differentials, incentives, or bonuses.
