What You’ll Do

Join a Confidential Client team delivering recreation therapy and mental health services to adults in a medium- to long-term treatment program. You will support residents’ functional, social, and community participation through individual and group interventions, program development, and coordination with an interdisciplinary team.

• Deliver recreation therapy and mental health treatment services per each resident’s treatment plan
• Develop, refine, and teach coursework and classes based on assessments, resident interests, and treatment goals
• Teach skills using methods tailored to each resident’s functioning level
• Lead groups focused on physical and emotional health, coping skills, social skills, leisure skills, ADLs, and community reintegration
• Build supportive relationships that promote independence, self-advocacy, and engagement in treatment
• Monitor resident progress, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and adjust plans as needed
• Document services accurately and timely according to facility procedures and standards
• Share relevant resident information with supervisors and floor staff to support safety and continuity of care
• Provide one-to-one support as assigned and participate in the RCF-PMI on-call rotation

Qualifications

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Services, or related field; OR bachelor’s degree with at least 30 semester hours in recreation therapy/leisure services
• Twelve months of relevant recreation/leisure services experience may substitute for classroom training
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred

Skills & Experience

• At least six months’ experience in a mental health setting or a related internship preferred
• Ability to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate individual and group services
• Current CPR certification or ability to obtain certification
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to staying current with best practices in recreation therapy and applying them in clinical programming

Schedule & Location

• Employment type: Full-time
• Location: Davenport, IA
• Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, and/or night shifts to provide coverage and supervision
• Participation in on-call rotation as assigned

Compensation & Benefits

• Estimated salary: $76,227 per year (estimated)
