Position Overview

Confidential client is seeking an entry-level Reality Capture Technician Associate to join their Virtual Construction team. This role supports senior reality-capture specialists in acquiring and processing site data using terrestrial laser scanners, SLAM/mobile mapping, and photogrammetry to produce point clouds, 3D meshes, and other digital deliverables for BIM and project verification.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist senior specialists with setup and operation of terrestrial laser scanners and SLAM systems on construction sites.
  • Support scan planning and follow established site documentation protocols.
  • Process raw scan data into registered point clouds and basic 3D meshes under supervision (tools such as ReCap Pro, FARO Scene, Leica Cyclone).
  • Produce simple visualizations, floor heat maps, and progress documentation for VDC teams and stakeholders.
  • Follow data-management standards: file naming, folder structure, and QA checklists.
  • Participate in safety briefings and team knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support BIM and as‑built verification workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of related experience (construction, surveying, geospatial tech) — internships considered.
  • Basic understanding of laser scanning, LiDAR, and photogrammetry principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and fundamental data-management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in construction environments and follow site protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Pursuing or recently completed a technical degree in construction, engineering, surveying, geomatics, or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with point-cloud software: ReCap Pro, FARO Scene, Leica Cyclone, or similar.
  • Familiarity with coordinate reference systems and basic surveying concepts.
  • Exposure to Digital Twin workflows, NVIDIA Omniverse, or collaborative 3D platforms.
  • Experience with advanced visualization techniques (e.g., 3D Gaussian Splatting) is a plus.

Travel & Location

  • Based at the client’s headquarters in Falls Church, VA (Falls Church, VA).
  • Travel required approximately 25%–50% to local and national job sites depending on project needs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • In accordance with Virginia Senate Bill 215 (SB 215), the base salary range for this position is: $72,000.00 - $92,000.00.
  • Actual compensation is based on candidate experience, qualifications, and location.
