What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain real-time embedded software for operational flight programs (OFP) on multi-core processors using modern C++ (C++2025).
  • Implement and optimize deterministic, low-latency algorithms for guidance, navigation, control, and sensor/image processing in safety-critical systems.
  • Integrate software with hardware subsystems (inertial sensors, seekers, gimbals, 1553 buses) and perform firmware/software/hardware integration and verification.
  • Work within agile teams (Scrum/Kanban) using GitLab/Bitbucket for source control and CI pipelines; participate in code reviews and maintain high-quality documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex real-time issues in Linux/RTOS environments; profile and optimize performance on multi-core architectures.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, test engineers, and cross-functional teams through all phases of the software lifecycle: requirements → design → code → integration → test → verification.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional C++2025 embedded, real-time, object-oriented development experience running on Linux and multi-core processors.
  • 3+ years of experience in at least one of: inertial navigation, guidance/autopilot, launch sequence/control, gimbal line-of-sight (LOS) control, or IR seeker image processing.
  • 3+ years of MIL-STD-1553 interface experience.
  • 3+ years working in agile software development environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) with GitLab and/or Bitbucket.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience (credential preferred).

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with FreeRTOS, Yocto, or CentOS7 for embedded Linux/RTOS development.
  • Strong understanding of C++ design patterns and modern C++ practices for embedded systems.
  • Hands-on software/firmware/hardware integration and lab test experience.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure development lifecycle.
  • Experience with performance profiling, real-time scheduling, synchronization primitives, and multi-core debugging tools.
