What You’ll Do

You will join a multi-discipline engineering project team focused on design and engineering upgrades/modifications for existing nuclear power plants. Typical work includes radiological dose and shielding design calculations, radiation source term evaluations, and supporting both domestic and international projects. You’ll apply engineering judgment, collaborate across disciplines, and may travel as project needs dictate. Modern tools, automation, and AI-assisted workflows are used to improve efficiency and quality.


Responsibilities

  • Perform radiological dose calculations for plant modifications and operations.
  • Develop shielding design calculations and evaluate shielding performance.
  • Calculate radiation source terms and assess radiological impacts.
  • Support engineering design documentation, calculations, and design checks.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Support domestic and international projects; occasional travel as required.
  • Apply or develop automation and tools (scripts, spreadsheets, or model-driven workflows) to streamline calculations and reporting.
  • Verify results produced by automation or AI tools with sound engineering judgment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Nuclear Engineering. A degree from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission–accredited program is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with one or more of the following programs is preferred:
    • MCNP
    • RADTRAD
    • MicroShield
    • ORIGEN
    • ARCON96

Preferred / Nice-to-have

  • Programming or scripting experience (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, reporting, or data transformation.
  • Coursework, certificate, or hands-on experience in Computer Science, AI, or Software Engineering that supports automation or agentic AI use in engineering workflows.
  • Prior nuclear industry or radiological engineering internship/co-op experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $62,998 - $90,586 (annual).
  • Total compensation may include eligibility for discretionary annual bonus where applicable.
