- Design and implement high-performance, low-latency software systems for trading infrastructure
- Write production-quality C++ (C++17/20) with emphasis on performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Profile and optimize critical code paths to reduce latency and improve throughput
- Collaborate closely with hardware and systems engineers to tune software for FPGAs, NICs, or other custom platforms
- Influence architecture and lead components that power next-generation trading systems
Who You Are
A pragmatic engineer who cares deeply about microsecond-level performance, cross-stack optimization, and clean, maintainable C++ code. You enjoy low-level debugging, benchmarking, and collaborating across hardware/software boundaries.
- Strong focus on performance, determinism, and reliability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
- Effective communicator who can explain trade-offs to engineers across disciplines
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven proficiency in modern C++ (C++17 or C++20)
- Experience building and shipping low-latency, high-performance systems
- Hands-on experience interfacing software with hardware platforms (FPGAs, NICs, custom ASICs, or similar)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of performance optimization
- Ability to write clear, well-tested, and maintainable production code
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in high-frequency trading, networking, real-time systems, or similar domains
- Familiarity with performance analysis tools (profilers, perf, flame graphs) and low-level system APIs
- Knowledge of lock-free programming, NUMA, CPU topology, and cache-aware design
- Experience on Linux server environments, toolchains, and CI/CD for performance-sensitive code
Compensation & Location
- Location: Chicago, IL (onsite or hybrid per client policy)
- Base pay range (provided by Confidential Client): $300,000 — $750,000 per year (actual compensation will depend on skills and experience)
