- Base salary: $300,000 / year - $500,000 / year (actual pay will be based on skills and experience)
What You’ll Do
This role sits between research and engineering. You will own the path from research idea to live trading and build the systems that turn quantitative ideas into measurable edge:
- Build and maintain systems that bridge research and production to enable fast iteration from concept to deployment
- Develop simulation and backtesting infrastructure that models latency, market microstructure and real-world constraints
- Define, calculate and manage features across instruments, market regimes and time horizons
- Own feature and signal pipelines to keep delivery clean and consistent from research through execution
- Help optimize strategies, balancing expected performance against practical constraints
- Troubleshoot issues end-to-end across research and execution
What You’ll Bring
- 3–7 years in quantitative software development, ideally at a trading firm or systematic fund
- Strong production Python experience, including data analysis tools (pandas, polars, or similar)
- Solid foundation in probability, statistics and time-series analysis; familiarity with backtesting and simulation frameworks
- Good understanding of machine learning as applied to systematic strategies — from research prototypes to production models
- Experience or interest in low-latency systems is a plus
- Comfortable working across both research and engineering teams
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Prior experience building production feature pipelines and signal management systems
- Background in market microstructure and realistic execution modeling
- Familiarity with performance profiling, distributed computation, or real-time data feeds
Skills & Tools
- Python (production-grade)
- Pandas, Polars or equivalent data tooling
- Backtesting / simulation frameworks
- Statistical/time-series analysis and ML applied to trading
- Experience with low-latency or real-time systems (preferred)
Workplace & Logistics
- Employment type: Full-time
- Seniority level: Associate
- Industry: Capital Markets
- Location: Chicago, IL (on-site or hybrid as defined by the client)
