Position Overview

This entry-level Quality Specialist role supports field and shop quality control and assurance on transportation and heavy civil construction projects. You will coordinate inspections and tests, document results, and communicate quality status to the project team. The role is field/shop-based and requires flexibility to travel or relocate to project locations across the South Central region and other North American project sites as needed. You will be employed by Confidential Client.


What You’ll Do

  • Understand project scope, quality requirements, and applicable quality plans
  • Coordinate inspections and tests to align with project schedules and production goals
  • Perform or witness quality control inspections and tests per project plans and standards
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute inspection and test reports and quality records
  • Review and approve inspection and test results for compliance with contract documents, codes, and standards
  • Manage source and receiving inspections for permanent materials and equipment
  • Evaluate supplier quality documentation for contract compliance
  • Collaborate with operations to develop work packs and identify required inspections, tests, and documentation
  • Review work packs for readiness prior to pre-activity meetings and construction execution
  • Monitor and forecast costs for third-party inspection and testing services and report trends to management
  • Address client concerns and maintain transparent communication regarding quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Welding Technology, or related field; 0–2 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with construction-related quality control procedures preferred
  • Certifications such as ASQ, CQM, CQA, or CWI are a plus
  • Working knowledge of trades, inspection/testing techniques, and construction materials preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and committed to quality and safety
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines and goals

Location & Travel

  • Field/shop-based position. Work locations vary by project and may require relocation or travel across project regions.
  • Candidates should be willing to relocate initially and throughout their career as project needs require.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated salary: $53,640 per year (estimated)
