Responsibilities

This role focuses on automotive market quality and warranty analysis. The successful candidate will work hands-on with failed parts and vehicles, investigate root causes, and support corrective actions to improve product performance and customer satisfaction.

• Perform detailed analysis of failed warranty parts and replicate failure modes using controlled test conditions.
• Identify warranty problems related to design, manufacturing, or service factors; lead investigations and determine root causes.
• Prepare clear technical documentation, reports, and executive summaries; present findings to quality management and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with suppliers, design teams, and service teams to support investigations, corrective actions, and issue containment.
• Support cost-recovery and supplier negotiations by reviewing warranty data and analysis records.
• Analyze market quality data to track department metrics and support continuous improvement.
• Implement and track countermeasures to meet established quality and performance targets.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Automotive Engineering or related technical discipline — or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 0–6 years of relevant engineering or technical experience (varies with education level).
• Experience or exposure to the automotive industry; familiarity with transmissions, automotive repair/maintenance is a plus.
• Background in quality engineering, quality assurance, warranty analysis, or similar functions.
• Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills using both observation and data.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills for collaborating with suppliers, service teams, and engineering groups.
• Comfortable working hands-on with vehicles and components in both shop and office environments.

Preferred / Additional Skills

• Internship, co-op, or prior hands-on experience in automotive engineering or quality roles.
• Experience with transmission assembly diagnosis or transmission-related failures.
• Exposure to post-production quality issues, recalls, or warranty investigations.
• Demonstrated ability to translate technical findings into concise narratives that inform decisions.
• Enthusiasm for automotive systems and resolving complex mechanical/electrical problems.

Work Environment

• Mixed office and hands-on workshop environment with dedicated desk space for data analysis and service bays for vehicle/component testing.
• Focus on post-production quality issues (warranty claims, recalls, field investigations).
• Dynamic role allowing technicians/engineers to recreate customer concerns and directly influence product improvements.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $33.65 - $38.00 per hour (Contract-to-hire).
• Actual pay offered will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
