What You’ll Do

You will help ensure ready-mix concrete meets quality standards for commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine and non-routine testing of raw materials, in-process mixes, and finished ready-mix concrete using industry-standard methods (e.g., slump, air content, compressive strength sampling).
  • Interpret test results and compare them to specifications and control limits; escalate out-of-spec conditions.
  • Conduct visual inspections of batches and finished product for consistency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable records of tests, analyses, and quality activities.
  • Deliver quality-control guidance/training to production staff as requested by management or technical services.
  • Support continuous improvement by staying current on industry trends, test methods, and regulations.

Who You Are (Qualifications & Skills)

We welcome applicants at varying experience levels; training is provided. Preferred and required qualifications include:

  • Entry-level candidates encouraged — on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Willingness to work variable shifts based on scheduled pours, including day and overnight shifts.
  • ACI certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain relevant certification.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Concrete Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, or construction materials is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office); familiarity with quality-management software is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to complete pre-employment screenings and background checks as required by the confidential client.
  • Must be able to perform routine physical tasks required for lab/field testing (lifting samples, working outdoors in variable weather).

  • Location: Saginaw, MI (on-site)
  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Shift: Variable shifts to support scheduled pours; no Sunday shifts per client scheduling practice.

Compensation & Benefits

The source posting includes an estimated annual pay of $53,891 (estimated). Actual pay and benefits will be provided by the confidential client and may vary by location and experience.
