What You’ll Do

  • Perform routine and non-routine testing of raw materials, in-process mixes, and finished ready-mix concrete using industry-standard methods (slump, air, unit weight, compressive strength, etc.).
  • Interpret test data and compare results to specifications and control limits; escalate non-conforming results.
  • Conduct visual inspections and basic acceptance checks on delivered concrete products.
  • Work with production and operations teams to troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate test records, logs, and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Support delivery of quality-control training to production staff as directed by technical services or management.
  • Keep current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices to improve testing processes and quality outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Willingness to work variable shifts based on scheduled pours, including day and overnight shifts.
  • Entry-level candidates encouraged — on-the-job training provided for those new to quality control or the concrete industry.
  • ACI certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Concrete Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in quality control, quality assurance, or construction materials is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to work independently when needed.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office); experience with quality management software is a plus.
  • Willingness to complete the client’s pre-employment screenings (background, drug test, and/or other checks as required).

Schedule & Location

  • Location: Leander, TX (local to the Leander area).
  • Shift: Variable — includes day and overnight shifts depending on pour schedules. Technicians are typically home after each shift; no Sunday shifts.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated pay: $54,588 per year (estimated). Actual compensation is hourly and based on experience and local pay practices; overtime paid according to state and federal law.
  • Hourly pay with overtime after 8 hours (per client policy).
  • Eligibility for performance bonuses and annual raises.
