What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Quality Control Technician to perform concrete testing and quality assurance for ready-mix concrete produced at the Lafayette, IN facility. This is an entry-friendly role with on-the-job training and opportunities for advancement.

  • Perform routine and non-routine tests of raw materials, in-process mixes, and finished ready-mix concrete using industry-standard methods (slump, air content, unit weight, compressive strength sampling, etc.).
  • Interpret test results against specifications and control limits; document findings and escalate non-conforming results.
  • Conduct visual inspections of batches and aggregates to ensure compliance with product quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate logs, test reports, and quality records in paper and electronic formats.
  • Deliver on-site quality control training to production staff as directed by technical services or management.
  • Keep current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices; recommend process improvements.
  • Work variable shifts tied to scheduled pours, including day and overnight shifts as required.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level candidates encouraged — on-the-job training provided.
  • ACI certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification acceptable.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Concrete Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, or construction materials is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to work with production and technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently, follow procedures, and prioritize tasks.
  • Basic PC skills (Microsoft Office); familiarity with quality management software is a plus.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screenings as required by Confidential Client.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated pay: $64,825 per year (estimated).
  • Hourly pay structure with overtime after 8 hours (local practice), eligibility for bonuses and annual raises.
  • Benefits may include low-cost medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, life insurance, paid holidays, PTO/vacation, 401(k) with employer match, and other site-specific perks.
  • Consistent local work with no Sunday shifts; technicians are typically home after their shift.
