Overview
Confidential Client, a values-driven leader in the ready-mix concrete industry, is hiring a Quality Control Technician to support operations in the Charleston, SC area (Lincolnville / Summerville). This role is an excellent opportunity for candidates new to construction materials as well as those with some testing experience — on-the-job training and development are provided.
What You’ll Do
- Perform routine and non-routine testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished ready-mix concrete using industry-standard methods.
- Interpret test results and compare findings to established specifications and control limits.
- Conduct visual inspections of concrete products to confirm compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve quality issues quickly.
- Deliver quality-control training to production staff as directed by management or technical services.
- Maintain accurate records of tests, analyses, and quality-related activities.
- Monitor industry trends, technologies, and regulations and recommend process improvements.
Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- Willingness to work variable shifts based on scheduled pours, including day and overnight shifts.
- Entry-level candidates encouraged — training provided for those new to quality control or the concrete industry.
- ACI certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification is acceptable.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Concrete Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, or construction materials is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Clear, effective communication and ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office); familiarity with quality-management software is a plus.
- Ability to complete pre-employment screenings and to be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Full-time position with variable shift scheduling to match production needs.
- Technicians are typically local and home after each shift; Confidential Client operates without Sunday shifts.
- The role requires on-site work at concrete production and testing locations; some field sampling and outdoor work are expected.
