What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician to perform routine and advanced analytical testing to verify that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods meet quality specifications in a chemical manufacturing QC laboratory.

• Perform quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products per established methods.
• Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation including Gas Chromatography (GC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
• Run and interpret UV-Visible and Infrared (IR/FTIR) spectroscopy analyses.
• Execute wet chemistry tests (pH, titrations, residue after evaporation, Karl Fischer calibrations, etc.).
• Conduct fluorescence testing, viscosity measurements, and other QC assays as required.
• Prepare daily standards and maintain calibration logs and lab equipment.
• Prioritize and schedule testing to meet turnaround times and production needs.
• Review, interpret, and document analytical results using good documentation practices.
• Communicate findings and issues to QC colleagues and cross-functional teams.
• Suggest improvements to procedures and contribute to quality-management initiatives.
• Perform other laboratory tasks as assigned to support departmental goals.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience required to be successful in this role:

• Hands-on experience or strong academic background in analytical chemistry techniques, including GC and HPLC.
• Ability to operate and interpret results from UV-Vis and IR/FTIR instruments.
• Proficiency with wet chemistry methods (pH analysis, titration, residue testing, Karl Fischer).
• Experience or training in QC testing for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods in a chemical or related lab.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures and test methods precisely.
• Ability to review and summarize analytical data accurately.
• Comfortable working independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with QC and production teams.
• Basic understanding of quality assurance and control principles in a manufacturing lab environment.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another hard science.
• Associate degree plus ≥1 year industry chemistry experience is suitable.
• High school diploma plus 2–3 years recent hands-on chemistry lab experience will be considered.
• Academic lab coursework or internships can qualify entry-level candidates.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing, formulations, or QA/QC is a plus.
• Exposure to biological or life-sciences techniques is helpful but not required.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Onsite QC laboratory in a chemical manufacturing facility located in Hamilton, OH.
• Lab instruments include GC, HPLC, UV-Vis, IR/FTIR, Karl Fischer, titration setups, and viscosity measurement tools.
• Initial training schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• After training: rotating 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.).
• Typical lab dress code: jeans and plain shirt plus required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• You'll work closely with another technician and a supervisor; the environment supports growth into areas such as formulations and QA over time.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour (Contract to Hire). Actual pay offered will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
