Position Summary

This is a full-time, 3rd-shift Quality Control (QC) Assistant role supporting a confidential client in the food & beverage manufacturing industry. The QC Assistant will perform routine microbiological and quality checks, maintain QC records, support food-safety programs (HACCP/SOPs), coordinate outside lab work, and help ensure production meets safety and quality standards.


Key Details

  • Location: Fountain Valley, CA
  • Shift: 3rd shift — 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM (5 days/week; schedule includes Saturday with Sunday and one weekday off)
  • Employment type: Full Time, Direct Hire
  • Compensation: $21.50–$27.50 per hour, plus an additional $3.00/hr 3rd-shift differential

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Oversee lab analyses for physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters.
  • Perform microbiology culturing and environmental sampling.
  • Conduct product quality inspections and routine QC testing.
  • Prepare daily and monthly QC reports and communicate results to Production and Factory managers.
  • Format, verify, and maintain QC records in accordance with company standards.
  • Manage QC equipment and supplies — inventory, maintenance, and calibration tracking.
  • Coordinate sample checks with outside laboratories; escort/assist regulatory auditors as needed.
  • Prepare and update Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manuals for the department.
  • Conduct food-safety and hygiene training, and assist with HACCP-related activities.
  • Audit raw material suppliers and investigate out-of-specification results.
  • Identify facility cleanliness weak points and mentor staff on improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications & Skills)

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of quality control experience in a factory or laboratory setting (food/beverage experience strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with microbiological testing, product inspection, process checks, and HACCP activities.
  • HACCP or ISO certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required (for coordination with outside labs).
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
