What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Quality Assurance Tester to join their IT team. This role focuses on functional testing of Pega-based applications and ensuring delivered software meets documented requirements.

  • Support the design and execution of functional test cases for Pega applications following established testing guidelines.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and senior QA team members to review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Validate system functionality against requirements and document test results.
  • Identify, document, and track defects; work with engineering teams on resolution verification.
  • Maintain and update test documentation (regression test cases, test results, checklists).
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) and support testing across sprints.
  • Raise potential risks or issues to senior QA staff and contribute to test planning and effort estimates under guidance.
  • Promote quality best practices across the software development lifecycle.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum requirements to be considered:

  • 0–1 years of professional experience in software quality assurance, testing coursework, internships, or related experience.
  • Exposure to or foundational understanding of Pega testing concepts or Pega functional testing tools (coursework, training, or internship experience acceptable).
  • Basic knowledge of QA principles: test case creation, defect reporting, and regression testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret requirements/user stories and translate them into clear test steps.
  • Familiarity with Agile (Scrum or Kanban) from coursework, internships, or prior roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; clear documentation of issues and outcomes.
  • Experience with or knowledge of common test management/defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Pega entry-level certification (CSA, CSSA) or coursework.
  • Exposure to automated testing tools for Pega (PegaUnit, Selenium for Pega UI) through coursework or hands-on learning.
  • Interest in test automation or hybrid testing frameworks.
  • Awareness of CI/CD concepts and how testing integrates with automated pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Agile-focused testing methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, hybrid environments).

Location & Clearance

  • Location: Crystal, VA (on-site or client-determined work arrangement).
  • Clearance: TS (Top Secret) clearance required to apply. Only candidates who either hold or can obtain the required clearance will be considered.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent relevant coursework/experience).

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Employment type: FULL_TIME
  • Estimated pay (from source posting): $84,433 per year (estimated)
