Purchasing Specialist
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for scheduling and purchasing materials to support production schedules, ensuring plant efficiency and profitability while meeting customer service levels. Key duties include inventory planning and control, processing purchase requisitions, coordinating with vendors, managing change requests, and maintaining master data related to planning. This role supports manufacturing operations primarily in plastics and fabrication environments within a leading packaging corporation.

What You’ll Do
Schedule and purchase materials to support production schedules while maximizing plant efficiencies and profitability and meeting established customer service levels.
- Plan and control appropriate inventory levels to support production, including cycle count responsibilities.
- Initiate, review, and process purchase requisitions and related documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain product/service information — price, availability, and delivery schedules.
- Review and manage change requests from customers, plants, and suppliers; reschedule or adjust orders as necessary.
- Develop and maintain master data related to planning (safety stock, lead times, lot size).
- Support inventory management directives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet production and customer needs.
Who We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Entry-level to mid-level manufacturing purchasing experience (1–3 years required; 2–5 years preferred in plastics/fabrication environments).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills for vendor and internal coordination.
- Comfortable working in a production/manufacturing environment and supporting production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or a related field.
- 2–5 years purchasing or inventory experience in plastics, fabrication, or manufacturing.
- Experience maintaining planning/master data (safety stock, lead times, lot size) and participating in cycle count programs.
Compensation & Location
- Estimated pay: $55,806 per year (estimated).
- This position is located in Piedmont, South Carolina (local requirements may apply).
