What You’ll Do

This entry-level, full-time Public Policy Researcher will support federal clients by researching, analyzing, and helping draft materials that inform rulemaking and regulatory policy. You will work on multiple short- and long-term engagements in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Participate in projects that support federal rulemaking, policy development, and regulatory implementation
  • Support transparent management and analysis of public comments on proposed agency rules
  • Draft and edit documents related to federal agency rulemakings, reports, and presentations
  • Rapidly learn and contribute across varied projects for multiple clients
  • Synthesize findings from rulemaking documents, literature, and other technical reports
  • Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to develop recommendations
  • Provide verbal and written progress updates to project teams and interact with clients to discuss analyses

What We’re Looking For

Basic requirements for consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government, environmental science, natural or physical science, political science, or a closely related field
  • U.S. Citizenship required per federal contract requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational ability
  • Comfortable prioritizing and working on multiple projects under strict deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the federal rulemaking process and public comment systems
  • Prior experience analyzing regulations, comments, or policy documents
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe
  • Detail-oriented, team-focused approach and strong time-management strategies
  • Previous exposure to qualitative and quantitative research methods

Compensation & Location

  • Pay range (full-time): $50,386.00 – $85,656.00 per year
  • Work model: Hybrid from our Reston, VA office (Confidential Client headquarters)
  • Note: Final pay is determined by experience, skills, certifications, and contract labor categories
