What You’ll Do

Confidential client is seeking an entry-level Public Health Data Engineer to support cloud-based data platforms, pipelines, and analytics solutions. This role is ideal for early-career candidates with foundational data engineering, software development, or cloud experience who want to grow in a collaborative consulting environment.

• Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines that ingest, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
• Support implementation and enhancement of data models, databases, and cloud-based data solutions.
• Participate in data integration, migration, and modernization initiatives under senior guidance.
• Develop and maintain scripts, queries, and applications using Python, SQL, and PySpark.
• Support cloud environments and services in AWS and Azure.
• Help implement CI/CD processes and follow software development best practices using Git and related tools.
• Monitor pipelines and systems, identify issues, and assist troubleshooting and resolution.
• Perform data validation and quality assurance to help ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions.
• Document technical processes, data flows, and system configurations.
• Continuously develop technical skills and stay current with data engineering best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DHS "Public Trust."
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Foundational experience in data engineering, software engineering, data analytics, computer science, or another STEM discipline.
• Basic programming knowledge in Python, Java, or SQL.
• Familiarity with relational databases and data querying concepts.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) through coursework, certification, internship, or professional experience.
• Understanding of ETL, data integration, data warehousing, or analytics concepts.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Internship, academic, research, or project experience with data engineering, cloud computing, or software development.
• Exposure to Databricks, Spark, or large-scale data processing.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD or DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of AWS services (S3, Lambda, Redshift) or Azure services (Data Factory, Functions, Cosmos DB).
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Kibana).
• Cloud/data certifications (AWS, Azure, Databricks).
• Experience supporting healthcare, public sector, or federal clients.
• Interest in data architecture, machine learning, or advanced analytics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary range: $70,000 - $116,000 (range provided by confidential client). Compensation depends on experience, skills, certifications, security clearance status, and other factors.
