About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Public Health Assistant to support public health programs in Keswick, CA. This position provides routine program and administrative support under general supervision and is a strong fit for someone beginning a career in community or public health.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with community outreach and public health events (including car seat safety checks and educational activities)
- Provide basic health education information and outreach to residents
- Perform clerical duties: data entry, record keeping, scheduling, filing, and maintaining mailing lists
- Prepare and compile program data and simple reports for program staff
- Help develop flyers, brochures, and other health education materials
- Coordinate logistics for program service delivery (site arrangements, advertising, inventory of supplies)
- Communicate professionally with the public, community agencies, and program stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned to support public health program goals
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate how they meet one of the following:
- Two (2) or more years of experience in a public health program;
OR - Fifteen (15) semester college units in community or public health, social services, community education, health science, or a closely related field AND one (1) year of experience in a public health program;
OR - A bachelor’s degree in public health, health science, or health education from an accredited college or university.
Special requirement: Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- ~1 year experience working in community, health, or social services settings
- Familiarity with public health principles, basic disease prevention, and health education methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or equivalent tools for data entry and report preparation
- Organized, dependable, and customer-service oriented
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (provided by the client): $38,568 – $49,236 per year (approx. $3,214 – $4,103/month; $18.54 – $23.67/hour)
- This role is covered by the UPEC – General bargaining unit (refer to the applicable MOU for details and potential future increases)
- Confidential Client participates in CalPERS and offers benefits per applicable policy (details provided upon hire)
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently stand, walk, sit, and use hands/fingers; occasionally reach, stoop, kneel, or lift up to 25 lbs.
