What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is seeking a Provider Coding Compliance Consultant to lead provider-focused coding audits, deliver findings and education, and support coding compliance initiatives across clinical specialties.

  • Identify and prioritize audit projects; schedule and coordinate audits with appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct coding and documentation audits of provider services to assess compliance with internal policies and applicable federal, state, and payer rules.
  • Prepare clear, written audit and investigation reports that identify risk, recommend corrective actions, and track remediation.
  • Obtain, monitor and verify corrective action plans; follow through to confirm effective implementation.
  • Track audit findings, measure outcomes, and survey auditees to assess satisfaction and audit effectiveness.
  • Provide targeted coding education for providers and staff based on audit trends and compliance needs.
  • Serve as a coding compliance resource for departments and clinical teams on routine coding and documentation questions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting audit findings and delivering provider education.
  • Advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, CMS regulations, and payer-specific billing/documentation requirements.
  • Experience auditing E/M services, surgical procedures, office-based procedures, and diagnostic services across multiple specialties — advanced knowledge in orthopedics is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail, sound judgment, integrity, and objective decision-making.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and initiative; willingness to learn business processes and auditing techniques.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • HCCA certification preferred.
  • Medical coding certifications (CPC, CCS, CCS-P) strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or equivalent experience (see Minimum Qualifications).
  • Prior experience in physician/professional fee coding and compliance audits.

Compensation & Location

  • Location: Grandview Heights, OH (on-site / local travel as required).
  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • Pay range (provided by Confidential Client): $30.52/hour ($63,481/year) — $45.79/hour ($95,243/year). Actual pay depends on candidate qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR four (4) years of related work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant healthcare coding, auditing, or compliance experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform provider audits and produce actionable reports.
