What You’ll Do

  • Manage prototype build activities for vehicle prototypes: develop, document, and communicate build plans based on vehicle specifications.
  • Coordinate parts purchasing, vendor communication, and material tracking to meet program timelines.
  • Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers) to ensure program deliverables are met.
  • Track program timing for parts and assemblies; identify schedule risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Troubleshoot build issues that affect quality, engineering design, manufacturing processes, or timing and drive resolution to closure.
  • Prepare and deliver clear status reports and presentations to management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain build documentation including BOMs, change logs, test reports, and process instructions.
  • Support hands-on assembly, fit-up, and test activities in the prototype shop as required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering with exposure to:
    • Engineering design
    • Manufacturing engineering
    • Process engineering
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle build processes and prototype workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; comfortable preparing and presenting slides to all levels.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple programs and clearly communicate status to management.
  • Relevant hands-on experience (Formula SAE, automotive internship, capstone projects, or shop experience) is highly valued.
  • Experience level:
    • Entry-level candidates (recent graduates) with internships, SAE, or capstone experience are encouraged to apply.
    • Mid-level candidates with 2–5 years of automotive or aerospace prototype/manufacturing experience are also a strong fit.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Direct experience with prototype vehicle builds, supplier coordination, or prototype shop operations.
  • Exposure to manufacturing/process improvement tools and methods.

Compensation & Location

  • Estimated salary: $103,540 per year (estimated; actual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and local market). Some roles may include bonuses or other incentives.
  • Work location: On-site in Auburn Hills, MI.
