What You’ll Do
The confidential client is hiring an entry-level Protection & Control Engineering Associate to support distribution protection, control, monitoring, and automation systems across Texas. This role combines hands-on field work, testing/commissioning, and technical support to Distribution teams.
- Perform installation, commissioning, testing, calibration, monitoring, and maintenance of distribution protection, control, monitoring, and automation equipment under direct supervision.
- Follow and apply the Distribution Safety Handbook and all safe work practices and procedures.
- Analyze diagnostic test results and recommend remedial action plans when needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of design, installation, and maintenance activities for protection and control systems.
- Support Distribution Automation (DA) reliability and submit action items to ensure successful operation of distribution circuits.
- Assist in developing testing procedures, data-collection methods for load studies, and preventative maintenance processes.
- Collaborate with vendors, manufacturers, and engineering groups to research and implement new technologies.
- May schedule/supervise feeder clearances and, when required, oversee asbestos abatement documentation in underground network areas.
What We’re Looking For
Candidates should demonstrate foundational electrical knowledge and a commitment to completing the program of development for this role.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Working toward or holding one of the following:
- Two-year Associate degree in Electrical Power & Controls, Electronics, or Engineering Technology, or
- Bachelor of Science in Electronics / Electrical Engineering Technology or a similar field.
- Military candidates with at least 3 years’ experience on electronic/electrical equipment or SkillBridge participants are encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency in electrical/electronic theory.
- Competency with computer hardware and software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness and ability to complete the Distribution P&C Development program within the timeframe required by Distribution Grid Technology management.
