About the Role

This role is for a Project Manager I/II — Drainage level working for a confidential client in Englewood, CO. The role supports municipal infrastructure work including drainage, transportation, parks, and capital improvement projects. The position is offered at two levels:

  • Project Manager I — entry-level professional engineering responsibilities under supervision.
  • Project Manager II — journey-level responsibilities with independent project management, technical review, and possible supervision of staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering studies, cost analyses, and prepare design calculations, sketches, plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Review civil, drainage, grading, and utility plans; ensure compliance with municipal standards and regulations.
  • Manage capital improvement projects (CIP) from scoping and design through construction and close-out.
  • Prepare contract documents, manage bids and consultant/contractor work, and process change orders and payments.
  • Perform or direct field inspections and materials/quality assurance activities to ensure work meets plans and codes.
  • Coordinate projects with other agencies, utility providers, Urban Drainage, and regional partners.
  • Provide drainage and environmental engineering support, including review of drainage reports and floodplain administration.
  • Perform traffic and roadway engineering tasks: traffic studies, speed/accident analysis, pavement preservation planning.
  • Support parks-related civil work including irrigation, well coordination, and site details.
  • Supervise, mentor, and assign work to technical and field staff as required.
  • Present technical information and project updates to the public, commissions, and elected officials.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Project Manager I (minimum)

  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, mathematics, and construction practices.
  • Ability to perform technical research and designs under supervision.
  • Proficiency with office software and basic engineering/CAD systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain.

Project Manager II (adds to PM I)

  • Minimum three years of responsible civil, environmental, or traffic engineering experience.
  • Ability to independently design, review, and modify plans and specifications.
  • Experience with pavement design, construction methods, materials testing, and QA/QC.
  • Understanding of project management and municipal budgeting.
  • Supervisory experience and the ability to manage CIP budgets and schedules.
  • Professional registrations or certifications preferred: PE, EI, Master’s degree, PLA, PMP, or AICP.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain.

Education & Experience

  • PM I: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Traffic Engineering, or related field; no experience required.
  • PM II: Bachelor’s degree plus three years of relevant engineering experience; professional certification or advanced degree preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly salary ranges provided by the confidential client:
    • Project Manager I: $36.20 - $54.11 per hour
    • Project Manager II: $42.65 - $63.64 per hour
  • An estimated annual salary midpoint is shown on some job boards; the posted ranges above reflect the published pay bands.

Work Schedule, Location & Other Info

  • Primary work location: Englewood, CO (on-site Monday–Friday typical). Remote or flexible schedules may be discussed with supervisor approval.
  • This is a full-time, salaried position (exempt/non-exempt status as determined by the confidential client).
  • Relocation assistance is not provided.
  • Work includes both office and field time; may involve exposure to weather and occasional evening or weekend hours.
