Project Financial Controls Analyst (Associate - Mid) | Confidential Client (Columbus/Steubenville, OH)
The Project Financial Controls Analyst supports project controls by assisting with invoice processing, managing unvouchered liabilities, and administering work orders to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with contractual and accounting standards. This role involves collaboration across departments to maintain financial controls, support budgeting activities, and contribute to process improvements within a utility project management environment. The position is on-site at Confidential Client locations in Ohio and requires strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

What You’ll Do
- Assist with processing vendor invoices for management approval for contract labor and/or material services.
- Perform invoice audit reviews per contract financial Terms & Conditions (labor/equipment rates, subcontractors, materials, per diem, escalation, overheads).
- Interpret contractual language and Terms & Conditions to determine billable items and dispute non-compliant invoices.
- Provide material/service support: obtain and process quotes, manage vendor interactions, receipting, and tracking.
- Identify and submit unvouchered liabilities in accordance with accounting policies and SOX requirements; help record un-invoiced vendor services.
- Support work order administration: set up, in‑service reporting, and closing; ensure asset retirements are identified and processed timely.
- Resolve accounting and project management discrepancies with internal teams.
- Support contract requisitions, bid package administration, governance tasks, and creation of process templates and trackers.
- Assist with preparation, monitoring, and reporting of monthly O&M and capital budgets.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives related to financial and operational processes.
- Develop knowledge of related systems and software applications to support accurate project and work order reporting.
Who You Are
- Education: Related degree preferred (Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, Project Management). With a High School Diploma: minimum two (2) years' relevant experience. No experience required with a qualified Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience: Background in utility operations, project management support, cost tracking, forecasting, budgeting, accounting principles, or construction/maintenance of systems and equipment.
- Systems: Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials, Business Objects, Cognos, and Ventyx Asset Suite Maximo is a plus.
- Certifications: Not required at entry/mid levels; professional certifications (PMP, RMP, etc.) preferred for progression to senior levels.

- Other requirements:
- Travel: approximately 10–25% required

Compensation & Benefits
- Project Financial Controls Analyst (Mid — grade 6): base salary approx. $75,000 – $93,000
- Project Financial Controls Analyst Associate (Entry — grade 5): base salary approx. $64,000 – $79,000
- Official compensation range (posted): $63,496.00 – $93,188.50 per year
