What You’ll Do
This on-site role in Columbus, OH (Confidential Client) supports project financial controls and reporting. You will work under supervision on invoice processing, unvouchered liabilities, work order administration, and related project accounting tasks.
- Assist with processing vendor invoices for contract labor, materials and services; perform invoice audit reviews against contract terms (rates, subcontractor billing, materials, per diem, escalation, overheads).
- Help interpret contractual language and financial terms to identify billable vs. non-billable items and resolve disputes.
- Support procurement and material services: obtain quotes, track receipts, and coordinate vendor communications.
- Identify and record unvouchered liabilities in accordance with accounting policies and SOX/project controls guidance.
- Assist with work order administration (setup, in-service reporting, and closeout) and timely asset retirement processing.
- Support monthly monitoring and reporting of O&M and capital budgets and assist in budget reconciliation and forecasting.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase accuracy and efficiency of financial and operational controls.
- Communicate and resolve issues with Accounting, Project Management, and other internal partners to ensure reliable project reporting.
Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications & Experience)
Candidates will be considered at either an entry Associate level or a mid-level Analyst depending on experience and internal equity.
- Minimum education: High school diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, Project Management, or related field (no experience required with a qualifying degree).
- Experience (preferred): work processes in utility/project environments, cost tracking/analysis, forecasting, project budgets, accounting principles, or construction/maintenance systems.
- Tools (preferred, not required): Microsoft Office (Excel), PeopleSoft Financials, BusinessObjects/Cognos, Ventyx Asset Suite / Maximo.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, clear oral/written communication, and presentation ability.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external partners at multiple organizational levels.
- Core competencies: adaptability/flexibility, teamwork, communication, planning and organization.
- Travel: approximately 10–25% (as required).
- Physical demands: primarily sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Certifications (optional): CCMP, PMP, RMP, etc. — helpful for career progression but not required at entry/mid levels.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay range: approximately $64,000 — $93,000 per year (position may be filled at Associate or mid-level with corresponding ranges: Associate $64K–$79K; Mid $75K–$93K).
- Additional total rewards may include discretionary annual incentive, 401(k), pension, medical benefits, paid time off, and educational assistance.
- Annual scope: this team supports a high invoice volume and large project budgets — expect exposure to complex financial activity.
