Project Engineer
The Project Engineer supports commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout by assisting Project Managers and Superintendents in coordinating schedules, budgets, documentation, and field activities. Position Overview
Confidential Client, a respected commercial general contractor serving the Greater Milwaukee area, is hiring an Entry-Level Project Engineer to support commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This Contract-to-Hire role offers hands-on experience, mentorship from senior staff, and opportunities to work on healthcare, education, corporate, industrial, multifamily, and municipal projects.
What You’ll Do
- Assist Project Managers with planning, execution, and closeout of commercial construction projects.
- Support project schedules, budgets, documentation, and change-order tracking.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and project correspondence; maintain accurate project files and revisions.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and permitting/inspection authorities.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
- Help Superintendents resolve field issues and coordinate subcontractor activities.
- Participate in project meetings; take meeting minutes and track action items and progress reports.
- Support procurement tracking and material delivery schedules; help identify and mitigate project risks and delays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
- Internship or co-op experience with a General Contractor is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam Revu, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction management software.
- Familiarity with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Knowledge of commercial construction practices and project delivery methods.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range (as listed in the source): $70,000 - $100,000 per year.
