What You’ll Do
This entry-level Project Engineer role supports the successful delivery of one or more construction projects by providing technical and administrative support to the project team. You will learn project controls, documentation management, and on-site quality and schedule monitoring while collaborating with mentors and field leadership.
Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day project operations: schedules, procurement tracking, subcontractor coordination, and project documentation.
- Support management of Owner and Subcontractor change orders, RFIs, and project closeout activities.
- Conduct regular site walks to verify that installations align with approved submittals, shop drawings and quality expectations.
- Track and manage submittals (product data, shop drawings, samples, mock-ups) with subcontractors, designers and owners to avoid schedule delays.
- Maintain and update contract drawings and specifications; distribute architect supplemental information and current drawings to field teams.
- Prepare meeting agendas, capture meeting minutes, and distribute to the project team.
- Participate in pre-construction tasks: constructability reviews, scope reviews, bidding support and subcontractor solicitation.
- Learn and help implement site safety and compliance practices under mentor guidance to promote productivity and profitability.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of training and experience (Construction Management, Civil Engineering preferred but not required).
- Entry-level experience in construction or related internships/co-ops preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years old (required for certain driving/insurance responsibilities).
- Valid NC driver’s license or ability to obtain the required state driving credentials for the role.
- Strong commitment to safety, integrity and team-based leadership.
Required Skills & Tools
- Construction document reading: plans, specifications and submittal workflows
- BIM coordination experience or familiarity (BIM360, Revit preferred)
- Scheduling fundamentals (Primavera P6 exposure a plus)
- Construction technology and record-keeping best practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience or willingness to learn: Spectrum, BlueBeam and project control systems
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety and environmental requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and conflict management
