Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Project Engineer (Traveling) to support commercial and industrial construction projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to project coordination, field operations, and construction management. Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This is a contract position that may require relocation to project areas for extended durations (e.g., 6 months to 2 years).


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination and execution.
  • Support submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), shop drawings, and document control.
  • Track project schedules, milestones, and key deliverables.
  • Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
  • Maintain organized project files, reports, records, and correspondence.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare meeting notes and action items.
  • Coordinate communications between office staff, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Monitor and track project costs, commitments, and change orders.
  • Support quality control activities and project closeout documentation.
  • Conduct jobsite visits to observe progress and verify work completion.
  • Assist with project reporting, status updates, and forecasting.
  • Promote and support compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop knowledge of field operations, construction sequencing, and project management best practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of construction processes and the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn project management and construction management software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Willingness to relocate to the project area for the duration of the build (e.g., 6 months to 2 years).

Recommended Education & Experience

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction Science, or related field preferred.
  • Internship, co-op, or entry-level experience in construction, project coordination, or field operations is helpful.
  • Exposure to General Contractor or subcontractor environments on commercial/industrial projects is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk active construction sites and traverse uneven terrain.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and access various project areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) on jobsites.

Compensation (Estimated)

  • Estimated pay: $62,370 per year (estimated).

This is a developmental role designed to provide a structured path toward Project Manager, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, or other construction leadership roles. The position requires frequent interaction with field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
