Overview

Confidential Client, a regional leader in mixed-use and mid-rise commercial construction, is hiring a Project Engineer - Software to support construction projects based in Kirkland, Washington. This role contributes to project delivery through document control, submittal management, quality control, testing coordination, RFIs, and closeout support. This is a full-time, on-site role with frequent jobsite walks.

What You’ll Do

Project Engineers at Confidential Client provide day-to-day technical and administrative support to the Project Manager and Superintendent to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and compliant with contract requirements.

• Coordinate project documentation: RFIs, submittals, transmittals, logs, and as-built records.
• Maintain document control procedures and manage distribution of contract documents.
• Support procurements by tracking submittal approvals and aligning material deliveries with schedule needs.
• Facilitate quality control, inspections, and testing; manage inspection schedules and reporting.
• Draft, track, and close RFIs; assist with change order documentation and scope clarifications.
• Support project closeout activities including as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, and final documentation.
• Assist in permitting coordination and fee tracking as needed.
• Support jobsite safety documentation and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Documentation & Coordination

  • Interpret and apply project plans, specifications, and details for field teams and subcontractors.
  • Maintain and track project logs: submittal log, material tracking, test & inspection logs, concrete placement logs, non-conformance reports.
  • Establish and follow document control procedures for RFIs, submittals, correspondence, and revisions.

• Quality Control, Testing & Inspections

  • Support the three-phase inspection process and coordinate testing with inspectors and vendors.
  • Maintain inspection schedules and documentation; promptly report non-conforming work.

• Submittals & Procurement Support

  • Set up and maintain submittal register; coordinate preparation, review, and processing.
  • Track approvals and ensure procurement aligns with project schedule.

• RFIs, Change Management & As-Builts

  • Draft, track, and distribute RFIs and responses.
  • Support change order documentation and incorporate subcontractor as-builts into project records.

• Field & Team Support

  • Provide daily coordination support to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Assist in resolving constructability and coordination issues and track milestones and action items.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Working knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management or document-control platforms.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil or Architectural Engineering, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Typically 0–3 years of experience in commercial or multifamily construction (internships or co-op experience count).

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $80,000 - $97,000 per year plus annual bonus potential.

Physical & Work Environment

This position requires frequent jobsite walks and the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and lift. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, dust, and uneven terrain is expected along with work in office and climate-controlled environments.
