What You’ll Do
Our Confidential Client is hiring a Construction Project Engineer to support estimating, preconstruction, project controls and field coordination on commercial and industrial projects across Maricopa County. This is a hands-on role with direct exposure to Project Managers, Superintendents and the VP of Construction and a clear progression path toward Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager roles.
- Work with Estimating to prepare project cost estimates: quantity take-offs, subcontractor/vendor pricing collection, cost summaries, and basic data analytics
- Assist Project Managers with subcontractor and vendor procurement: prepare bid packages, follow up on bids, analyze bids, conduct post-bid interviews, and support award processes
- Support permitting and regulatory submittals; coordinate with design professionals and owners as directed
- Maintain and update construction schedules; participate in pull-planning, look-ahead scheduling, and weekly planning
- Support the project safety program: safety orientations, inspections, and documentation
- Manage and track subcontractor submittals and RFIs; review submittals for compliance and follow up to resolution
- Track and log project documentation (design docs, submittals, reports, photos, etc.)
- Assist with budget control and cost management as assigned
- Support implementation of company programs (Safety, Quality Control, Diversity, Lean Construction)
- Assist Superintendents with field management tasks: site set-up/security, equipment tracking, field documentation, inspections, and subcontractor coordination
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent academic/experiential background
- Internship or related hands-on experience in construction, estimating, or project engineering preferred
- Current driver’s license
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) and ability to work productively with internal teams and external partners (owners, design professionals, subcontractors, vendors)
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and work in both office and field environments
- Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret data and manage budgets
- Able to manage a variable workload, meet deadlines, and remain composed under pressure
- Proficient with personal computers and able to learn new technologies and platforms
- Positive, customer-service oriented attitude and proven ability to work on diverse teams
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary up to $100,000 per year (depending on experience)
- Estimated salary midpoint shown on job page: $62,366 per year
