What You’ll Do

Our client is hiring a Construction Project Engineer to support project teams on commercial and industrial jobs across Maricopa County. This is a hands-on role that partners with Estimating, Project Management, and Field teams to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and compliant with contract documents and regulations.

  • Work with Estimating to prepare cost estimates, perform quantity take-offs, and compile subcontractor and vendor pricing.
  • Assist Project Managers with subcontractor/vendor purchasing: bid package prep, bid follow-up, bid analysis, post-bid interviews, and award documentation.
  • Support permitting and regulatory submittals and coordinate with governmental agencies as required.
  • Coordinate with design professionals and owners on technical questions and clarifications as directed.
  • Prepare and maintain construction schedules; support pull-planning, look-ahead schedules, and weekly work plans.
  • Support project safety program implementation: safety orientations, inspections, and documentation.
  • Track and manage subcontractor submittals; review for compliance and follow up to resolution.
  • Track and manage Requests for Information (RFIs); maintain RFI logs and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain and organize project documentation including design documents, reports, photos, and submittals.
  • Assist Project Managers with budget control and cost management, and help implement company programs like Quality Control, Diversity, and Lean Construction.
  • Assist Superintendents with field management tasks: site setup, security, equipment tracking, field documentation, regulatory inspections, and coordinating subcontractor work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Internship or prior construction-related experience strongly preferred.
  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work productively across departments and with external partners (owners, design professionals, subcontractors, vendors).
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and demonstrate a positive, customer-service mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, solve problems, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, handle stress, and respond positively to unplanned events.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary up to $100,000 per year (depending on experience).
  • Estimated market figure shown: $63,363 per year (estimated).
