What You’ll Do

  • Observe and document construction activities in accordance with contract requirements (daily diaries, payment reports, construction submittals, memos, civil rights compliance reports, etc.).
  • Research and interpret contract documents, plans, specifications, and special provisions to verify work is performed per requirements; flag and report nonconformance or delays to the project manager or owner.
  • Use engineering judgment to identify, evaluate, and help resolve changed and/or unforeseen site conditions.
  • Participate in quality control checks and review calculations, designs, and drawings prepared by others to maintain project standards.
  • Review shop drawings and other submittals for conformance with contractual requirements within your area of expertise.
  • Coordinate with project team members and internal units to ensure consistent adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Follow all applicable safety protocols while on site and promptly report observed hazards or safety concerns.

Qualifications

  • Experience
    • 0–2 years of professional experience in a related technical field (entry-level).
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Professional registrations
    • E.I. or E.I.T. highly preferred, or the ability to obtain.
  • Physical & other requirements
    • Ability to walk long distances and safely climb ladders, stoop, squat, and crawl for inspections.
    • Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions and be exposed to typical construction hazards (equipment, traffic, insects, wet terrain).
    • Ability to distinguish colors and perceive audible warnings such as back-up alarms.
    • Position requires driving a company vehicle; a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company policy are required.
  • Scheduling
    • May require nonstandard shifts including overtime, weekend, and/or night work as project needs dictate.
